Fall Festival

Pumpkin Truck Arrived

The Pumpkin Patch is back for another season.  On Saturday, the truck arrived right on time at 4:00 pm.  With the help of volunteers from Wylie East High School, Burnett Junior High, the Cub Scouts, and WUMC church members, we managed to unload 1018 pumpkins!  Come pick out a pumpkin or two at the patch! Opening on October 1st through 31st.

Pumpkin Patch hours:

Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Saturday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Sunday Noon to 7:00 pm.

Back to School Breakfast at Dodd

Every year, we welcome out Dodd Teachers "Back to School" with a breakfast. We were blessed to help them start their day off with yummy breakfast casseroles, muffins, fruit, and juice.  We will be in prayer for all the administrations, teachers, and students this year.  May the year be filled with learning and discovery!

Youth Week

Week of July 29th, 2024

There is a long standing tradition of having Youth week during the last week of summer, before heading back to school.  The week is full of fun activities.  The week started out on Sunday with whirly ball and laser world.  Monday was Nacho Nacho Night with nachos for dinner, a few games of Mexican bingo, thumb wrestling, and watching the movie "Nacho Libre".  On Tuesday, it was Game Night and ice cream sundaes for dinner.  Wednesday was fun in the sun at Hawaiian Falls and tailgating with lots of yummy food.  On Thursday night the boys and girls split up into two teams for a photo scavenger hunt.  They had 40 items on their list that they had to find and document with a photo.  The week was finished out with Messy Olympics.  There was dart gun shooting contests, the longest tail toilet paper toss, frisbee target toss, oreo toss,  rock paper scissor pie in the face and the big culmination of slimy kick ball.  It lived up to the name - messy!  If you have a youth going into 7th through 12th grade, we would love to welcome them to our group.  On Sundays, there is Sunday school at 10:00 am and the Youth meet on Sunday nights for dinner and fellowship.

Adult VBS

Week of July 22nd and July 29th, 2024

We had the privilege of spending time at 4 area Senior Care Centers in Wylie, Sachse, and Murphy during the weeks of July 22nd and 29th for Adult VBS.  Each day we shared a Bible story, sang hymns, and created a fun craft.  We finished VBS by having our Ukulele Band visit to play and sing songs. "Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old," says Job 12:12.  It was a blessing to meet our new friends and share their wisdom.  We look forward to continuing our visits throughout the year. You are never too old for VBS!

Teacher Appreciation - 24/25 School year

Paster Jenna will be starting a new 6-week summer Bible study on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm beginning on June 11 or on Wednesdays at 12 noon beginning on June 12.  The studies will finish up on July 16th and 17th respectively.  Books are available through Amazon.  Paperbacks are $17.24 and $9.99 on Kindle.   You can sign up here:

Senior Sunday

May 19, 2024

We honored our High School Seniors on Sunday, May 19th.  They were recognized in the Contemporary Service followed by a luncheon with their families and youth group.  We are excited to see what God has in store for them.  They have a bright and blessed future ahead of them.

General Conference 2020

General Conference Concluded on May 4th, 2024.  Here is a great wrap up video of the conference.

On 5/7/2024, we had a spaghetti dinner so that we could gather and hear about the news from the United Methodist General Conference.  Pastor Jenna attended the conference as an alternate delegate.  She shared with us the changes that will be happening in the United Methodist Church in regards to Regionalization, the Revised Social Principles, and the removal of harmful language so that all people in the church will be treated with love, dignity and respect. 

Women in Faith Conference

Our Women in Faith - 3rd Saturday Meet to Eat Group - did something very exciting on Saturday April 20th.

We had the opportunity to attend THE BUILD UP & ENCOURAGE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE. Twenty-five ladies ventured out in a torrential downpour, lightning & wind storm to gather as Sisters in Christ at WUMC.

TW-LIGHT MINISTRIES from Kerrville, TX led us in WORSHIP, SINGING, LAUGHTER & PRAYER.

An awesome morning activity had us going around the room & writing affirmations for each letter of our attending lady's names.  A light lunch was provided mid-way.  At lunch, we had to find matching arm band colors to be our lunch companions.  It was a great way to mix up the groups so that we could meet, greet, and learn a little something about all of the attendees.

The afternoon was filled with more fun activities. We used our notebooks to meet the women who had colors other than the ones assigned to us at lunch. It was another great opportunity to meet and connect with all the women attending the conference so that we can be of ENCOURAGMENT & BUILD them up in the coming days and weeks.

As we left, we were reminded of the 4 fabulous hours we spent using: 1Thessalonians 5:11 "encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing."

Sunday, April 7th, 2024

On Sunday April 7th, we completed our goal of packaging over 14,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger.  The church has participated in this work for over 10 years.  We were excited that we could carry on the tradition of helping to feed those in need around the world.  To learn more about Rise Against Hunger, you can visit their website at www.riseagainsthunger.org.  See you next year on the Sunday after Easter!
